	Running on a Mission! Six keen runners from Seafood Scotland and Seafish are competing in the Edinburgh Marathon this year to raise funds for the Fishermen's Mission. Janice Anderson, Lesley Cunningham, Nicki Holmyard and Libby Woodhatch are teaming up for the Hairy Haggis marathon relay, whilst Clare Dixon and Dawn Sneddon are going the extra mile and running the half marathon. Between now and May 27th the girls will be digging deep into their energy reserves whilst training, and they hope you will dig deep into your pockets to support their efforts for the Mission. 	ESE 2012 April 24-26th FREE Registration for ESE 2012 You realise how fast time flies when ESE comes round again, and it is almost upon us! If you are exhibiting and want to invite guests to your stand, or you were planning on attending the show yourself then please click here for a free entry pass. Registration at the event is not free of charge. Once there, don't forget to come to the Seafood Scotland Seafood Bar on the Scottish Pavilion in Hall 9, for some refreshments, a catch-up and of course a delicious lunch! We would love to see you! Enterprise Europe Network Enterprise Europe Network Scotland is once again running a partnering event at ESE, for which you can pre-book 30 minute slots to meet potential customers, suppliers or partners to explore business opportunities. Buyers, distributors, manufacturers and processors will be taking part, along with those offering testing services and seafood packaging. 	£1.07m funding for FLAG Projects in Aberdeenshire Aberdeenshire has been awarded £1.07M by Marine Scotland from Axis 4 of the European Fisheries Fund, for FLAG (fisheries local action group) projects. These must benefit the wider community and examples of innovative projects already up and running elsewhere in Europe can be found at https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/fpfis/cms/farnet/. An official website goes live at the end of March (www.aeff.co.uk) but in the meantime, information and expression of interest forms can be obtained from Aberdeenshire council
	Seafood Scotland's more unusual services- staff profile Seafood Scotland often looks for different ways to serve the industry and our Inshore Manager, Craig Burton, has some of the more unusual ones up his sleeve. He is Deputy Team Leader of Salen Coastguard and in January was a member of the teams conducting a successful search for a missing scallop diver. This is just one of his many 'shouts' that have helped fishers in distress over the years. Craig is also a retained fire-fighter with Highlands & Islands Fire & Rescue Service and in over 20 years service has often turned out to incidents related to the seafood industry, such as factory fires and traffic accidents. In recognition of this commitment, he was presented with a Long Service medal in January. Let's hope that these are Seafood Scotland services that you will never need!
	Have you read the Seafood Industry Update yet? SFS's quarterly Seafood Industry Update is now on the website, giving a broad overview of catching and processing in the whitefish, wild and farmed shellfish, pelagic, salmon and trout sectors. This is useful for anyone needing a non-technical view of industry. We are also keen to receive contributions and snippets of news for this publication, which should be sent to nicki@seafoodscotland.org. Help us to help you!
	Seafish Food Legislation Expert Group Seafish produce a regular newsletter giving the latest updates on food legislation. January's update included items on Cadmium testing, norovirus in shellfish and the latest food labelling legislation.
