Top Dutch Chefs visit northeast seafood industry Two top Dutch chefs, Gerhard van den Broek and Eric van Veluwen, who run a country house hotel near Arnhem, visited the northeast seafood industry at the end of October, where they were hosted by Seafood Scotland and the North East of Scotland Fishermen's Organisation.
The pair visited Peterhead market and harbour, went onboard fishing vessels, toured shellfish, pelagic and whitefish factories, and even fitted in a trip to a local distillery. They were keen participants at the morning fish auction and purchased seafood for lunch, which they cooked up courtesy of the kitchen at the Buchan Braes Hotel, Boddam.
"The chefs found their visit fascinating and thoroughly enjoyed meeting fishermen and fish sellers and looking around the vessels, and they especially enjoyed their fresh seafood lunch," explained SFS's Ian Land.
"We are always looking for new sources of supply and were highly impressed with the quality of seafood from Scotland, during our fascinating visit," said Eric van Veluwen.
