Food Innovation at Abertay
Food Innovation @ Abertay (FIA) is a practical innovation support service for the Scottish food and drink industry. Partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), FIA aims to provide the Scottish food and drink sector with expert support bringing together specialists covering a wide range of practical knowledge.
The provision of healthy, safe and high quality food to the consumer is an ongoing area of concern to all stakeholders in the food and related industries and this is emphasised by national and EU food legislation. The interaction between research, consultancy, education and training is critically important in assuring the provision of healthy, safe, high quality foods.
We are pleased to provide a number of practical support and technical services to the food industry:
- Sensory analysis unit
- New product development
- Nutritional and Product analysis including shelf life testing
- Food hygiene, food safety and HACCP advice
- Food photography and food styling
- Website and Database advice
- Use of specialist facilities including test kitchens
- Update on consumer issues
