In the last six months there have been two seafood shipments from Scotland held at Dubai airport due to the accompanying health certificates not declaring that the shipments were free of Epizootic Ulcerative Syndrome (EUS). On both occasions, these shipments were cleared, with DIT’s support, and by providing a declaration from Marine Scotland, which effectively stated that the UK is free from EUS and other related diseases.

However, Dubai Municipality have now informed us that health certificates accompanying all future seafood shipments originating from the UK must categorically declare that the shipments are free from EUS, failing which the shipments will not be cleared and in all probability destroyed.

I should be grateful if this information is also conveyed to your health certificate issuing body in Scotland, so as to avoid future delays and possible destruction of shipments that do not carry this declaration with the accompanying health certificates.
