The Academy, which is the first major investment from Scotland Food and Drink Partnership’s £5m Recovery Plan and is supported by The Scottish Government, will run for two and a half years, and aims to support over 200 Scottish businesses.

The creation of this unique supplier development programme has been high on the agenda for the Partnership since launching its Home Advantage strategy in 2018 and is also integral to its Ambition 2030 plan. The UK Market Development board have been key in driving this activity forward and have been actively involved throughout the process.

It is a unique, market-focused, and commercially orientated training programme that helps Scottish food and drinks businesses – at every stage of their growth journey – sell themselves, build their brands and thrive. This flexible series of three structured training programmes are designed by market-focused industry experts to enable real and sustainable business growth.

Seeding Growth, which starts in May 2021, is aimed at companies whose primary focus is on maximising their local markets and beginning to move to broader Scottish and UK markets.

Accelerating Growth is aimed at established businesses targeting advancement in the UK market and kicks off in June.

The final course, Commercial Excellence, is an advanced programme in building excellence in sales and communications for established businesses. Underpinned by tailored one-to-one support, each programme matches the needs of businesses with appropriate specialists and mentors.
