Although our official 25th anniversary occurred last year, we had the pleasure of commemorating this significant milestone with a special reception in Parliament this week at the House of Commons. The event, hosted by Torcuil Crichton MP, gathered Members of Parliament from all major parties, showcasing strong cross-party support for Scotland’s seafood sector.
We were privileged to hear from two governmental ministers: Ian Murray, Secretary of State for Scotland, who reaffirmed his unwavering support for our industry, and Daniel Zeichner, Minister of State for Fisheries, who expressed his admiration for the commitment exhibited by professionals throughout the sector.
Our CEO, Donna Fordyce, acknowledged the hard work of the Seafood Scotland team, the dedication of our board, and the remarkable resilience of the seafood industry as a whole. Representatives from various segments of the sector—including wild-capture fishers, aquaculture farmers, and seafood processors—were present, underscoring the strength and unity within our industry. We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who joined us in celebrating this milestone. As Torcuil Crichton MP concluded his remarks, “…and here’s to the next 25 years!”
